The chat with Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro about the new ‘The Hobbit’ movies took place today — or yesterday depending on where you live. And some minor facts came out of it. Peter Jackson mainly spoke about his role in making the movie, but there were some other interesting tidbits too.
About a possible Blu-ray set of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies, Peter Jackson said, “We are working on a blu ray [sic] version of the LOTR trilogy with Warner Bros at the moment, not sure when it is due for release. It certainly won’t be this year.”
Guillermo also confirmed the (likely) involvement of Howard Shore for the movies’ score. “Yes- absolutely, Shore is the VOICE of these films and we will absolutely be invited back. Peter and Fran have talked to him a couple of times already and Ive [sic] exchanged emails about the subject. He will return.” Interesting, since Peter Jackson replaced Shore at the last moment for his ‘King Kong.’

 | | Hugh Hefner is said to have chosen Robert Downey Jr. to play him in the biopic called ‘Playboy.’ No contracts have been signed, but Hefner apparently liked his humor and vulnerability in ‘Iron Man.’
Brett Ratner (’Rush Hour’), announced as the director last year, ditched out and is currently not involved in the project anymore. I have no idea how solid these rumors are. The movie has been a long time coming and last year Tom Cruise was even mentioned to play Hugh Hefner.
The picture is currently set to release somewhere in 2009.

These aren’t the hottest production stills going around, but it’s always fun to see the magic of cinema. On Location Vacations got some pictures taken on the Christmas set of ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop.’ It’s the new movie with ‘The King of Queens’ star Kevin James. You might also remember him from ‘Hitch,’ with Will Smith.
Too bad I don’t live near the Burlington Mall. I would’ve liked to check out the Christmas spirit.
