Good early 'The Incredible Hulk' tracking numbers

The Incredible Hulk Edward Norton Tracking Document

Marvel has tried everything they can to distinguish ‘The Incredible Hulk’ from Ang Lee’s movie in 2003. But can the couple of million visitors be convinced to see another Hulk movie that, well, isn’t plain awful? Tracking numbers indicate so. The grittier look, the new cast and of course the positive ‘Iron Man’ buzz have given the public some merit to see the new movie.

It isn’t looking to open ‘Iron Man’ big. And I don’t expect it to either. Some people will be scared to see another ‘The Hulk.’ And some are probably just not that into the green guy as Jon Favreau’s tough Iron Man.

Currently the green eyed Edward Norton is looking at a $60-$70 million weekend, but keep in mind these are early estimates. Let’s have a look at the actual tracking percentages, compared to those of ‘Iron Man’ at the same time before release.

‘The Incredible Hulk’ (compared to ‘Iron Man’)

Un-Aided Awareness: 11% (compared to 15% for ‘Iron Man’)
Total Awareness: 95% (to 82%)
Definite Interest: 33% (to 50%)
First Choice: 8% overall (to 20%)

First Choice: 19% among 21-24 year olds (to 15%)
First Choice: 13% among males
First Choice: 15% among males under 25
First Choice: 15% among males 12-16
First Choice: 18% among Latinos.

Promising numbers for a redo after just 5 years. Way better than the ‘The Happening’ tracking numbers of course. And better than most tracking numbers we saw so far. With the high Total Awareness and the low overall First Choice, it will be interesting to see how and if tracking will change during the week.

How ’bout an update on these nums.

Incredible Hulk is looking to be the Epic Action adventure of the summer- let’s get some press out about it!

  2. Petra:

I have to confess that the reason for my turnoff of this movie IS the fact that Ed Norton is playing the lead. His role in fight Club is no where near the caliber needed to effectively deliver a believable Hulk. But thats just MHO…….
