The Story

Alex Fletcher, a former member of the 80’s band Pop, hasn’t really been successful with his solo-career. Therefore, he is still performing with the old hits they had with his band Pop. His manager isn’t giving up on him and arranges a meeting with the successful teen singer Cora Corman. Alex gets the chance to be promoted in a new tv show, as long as he finishes a new song for Cora within a week. Unfortunately, he isn’t quite a songwriter either and is in desperate need of help. Could the girl who is “just there to cater the plants” help him out?

Worth the Popcorn?

The movie starts with a hilarious opening, in which you see Hugh with his 80’s band Pop. He is singing quite a catchy song and I think that’s exactly what is making this movie worth watching. During the movie there are several songs and the process of creating them is very funny to watch. The main song even stayed in my head for quite some time!

Personally, I usually love movies with Drew Barrymore, and watching a movie with Hugh Grant isn’t exactly a punishment either. So, watching a movie with them together is quite a treat.

All in all, a cute and enjoyable love story that will make you smile.

Something's Gotta Give

somethings gotta give

The Story

When Marin’s mother Erica is taking care of Harry, while Marin herself leaves, they start to like each other. But Harry’s doctor seems to be making a move on Erica as well.

Worth the Popcorn?

Something’s Gotta Give is an enjoyable romantic comedy. Although the beginning of the movie included more of the comical parts and what followed was more romantical. It starts out quite embarrassing when Erica finds an unknown elderly man in her kitchen. After this meeting there are some other awkward and therefore fun situations, which makes this movie definitely worth watching.

Later we will see how Erica and Harry start to get along. At first, still a bit embarrassed about the situation, but more and more comfortable with each other. I really enjoyed this change in the story. To see how the characters are getting closer. All in all, the balance between comedy and romance was just right for me.

Worth the Popcorn?

For those of you who haven’t given this movie a chance, hopefully this post will change your mind. The story about a man chasing his high school sweetheart may not be the most original, but the movie itself definitely is. The movie has so many comedic situations which are in fact really humorous. You could actually watch it several times and still laugh at the funny situations. What I liked so much about it, is the fact that it’s not just a sweet comedy. The humour used in this movie makes you laugh at things you would normally perhaps not laugh at. It is not sparing anyone, and for once in a while that is a welcome alternative.

Worth the Popcorn?

Katherine Heigl, Jane, is really what makes this movie worth the popcorn. She is funny, charming and looking great. Her character is always there for everyone around her. Jane is taking care of every friend’s wedding and doing everything her boss is asking her to do and more. It is nice to see her character develop during the movie. At some point she is standing up for herself and finally doing what is making her happy.

Besides that, the movie has it’s funny moments and gives you the happy feeling people are usually getting from weddings.
